Two new test chambers have been installed at our facility in Torrance, CA that greatly enhance our in-house test capabilities. These chambers will include NSI's planar, cylindrical and spherical near-field testing solutions, the latest NSI 2000 professional software and high performance RF instrumentation including NSI's high speed Panther 9000 Receiver and Panther 7000 Synthesizers.
 
Chamber No. 1 is 25' (7.7 m) wide, 30' (9.1 m) deep, 21' (6.5 m) high with 18" (0.5 m) absorber. The chamber will include an NSI-300V-12x12, 12’ (3.7 m) by 12’ (3.7 m) Vertical Planar Near-field Scanner with cylindrical and spherical scanning options. The system will also include a high capacity azimuth positioner mounted on a precision 8' (2.4 m) linear translation system for accurately positioning antennas up to 10,000 lbs (4536 kg) in weight. The facility includes an isolated “T” slab to support the scanner and AUT slide for high stability and accuracy. This system is capable of testing antenna apertures up to 12' (3.7 m) in diameter and providing pattern measurements from 1 GHz to 26.5 GHz with extensions up to 50 GHz or beyond.

Chamber No. 2 is 20' (6.1 m) wide, 20' (6.1 m) long and 21' (6.5 m) high and is lined with 36" (0.9 m) absorber. The chamber includes an NSI-700S-75 Spherical Near-field Scanner capable of supporting loads of 1,000 lbs (454 kgs) and antennas up to 5' (1.5 m) in diameter. Chamber No. 2 has been characterized for measurements from 400 MHz to 26.5 GHz with extensions up to 50 GHz or beyond.

Equipment for both chambers is in a common dedicated control room. The air conditioned control room has dual RF systems supporting simultaneous operation of both ranges. In addition, closed circuit TV monitoring, high end processing  workstations with large oversized flat screen monitors, wired and wireless internet service and ample work areas provide a comfortable environment to monitor and process test data.
