NASA Aura Satellite Launch

July 15, 2004 - NSI is proud to have contributed to the successful launch of the NASA Aura
Satellite
on July 15, 2004 This satellite was placed into a polar orbit by a Delta II launch vehicle, with the launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Aura is a member of the Earth Observing System (EOS) satellite family. The Aura spacecraft mission is to study the Earth's ozone, air quality and climate. The NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) developed the submillimeter wave Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) instrument for the Aura satellite.

The MLS instrument was flight qualified using a very high accuracy nearfield measurement system especially developed for this project by Nearfield Systems Inc. (technical paper).
