Standard Beam Controller (SBC)
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| DESCRIPTION
The Standard Beam Controller (SBC) is a general purpose, programmable device controller that provides true hardware triggering to optimize system-level speed and performance. The SBC provides triggering and control of microwave receivers and network analyzers. It also has the ability to interface with microwave synthesizers and control microwave switches through a preprogrammed timed sequence of beam states. Each beam state consists of a particular switch and frequency setting. The beam sequence is initiated by a trigger signal, which usually represents a particular orientation of an antenna under test with respect to the measurement probe. |

| CAPABILITIES
The
SBC has three DB25 connectors for controlling up to three high-speed PIN
switches, two OPTIONAL connectors for high-speed synthesizers, two BNC
connectors for a trigger input and trigger output and a DB25 connector
with four trigger inputs and four trigger outputs for synchronization
with external equipment. After the beamlist is downloaded from the host
computer over an RS-232 serial interface (DB9 connector), the SBC manages
the critical timing for multi-port, multi-frequency measurements, relieving
the host computer of exacting timing requirements. The SBC is capable
of forward/reverse beam table processing to support bi-directional near-field
measurements. The number of measurements per trigger depends upon the
how many switches and sources are being controlled for multi-beam measurements
(see specs below). |
