The NSI 85301C System

The NSI 85301C Antenna Measurement System provides the instrumentation for automated antenna pattern or radar cross-section measurements. It operates from 1  to 26.5 GHz with the Agilent 8511A harmonic sampler-based frequency converter. An optional capability extends the frequency range to 50 GHz by substituting an Agilent 8511B.  The lower frequency limit of 1 GHz is limited by the Agilent 87300C coupler, otherwise, the system could operate to a lower limit of 45 MHz.  This system provides an economical solution while maintaining superb performance for indoor ranges. The NSI 85301C system includes the Agilent 8511A, Agilent 8530A receiver, Agilent 83631A RF source, GPIB extenders, system cabling and a system rack.

System Description

The NSI 85301C antenna & RCS measurement system provides the instrumentation for automated near-field, far-field or radar cross-section measurements. It uses the Agilent 8511A harmonic sampler-based frequency converter, which operates  from 45 MHz to 26.5 GHz. The 8511B is available as an option to extend operation to 50 GHz. The Agilent 87300C coupler limits the 85301C lower frequency of operation to 1 GHz. Options are also available for remote source operation, AUT and probe PIN switches. The NSI 85301C is compatible with NSI antenna measurement software.

Power and Cooling

Install adequate AC power at all necessary locations. All equipment operates on 110 VAC, 60 Hz facility power, unless otherwise specified. A 20A outlet is required for the equipment rack. Contact NSI for special facility accommodations. Make sure enough outlets are provided at each location, and that they can supply the required amount of current. Place air conditioning equipment, compressors and large power converters on a different AC circuit than that used for the RF subsystem equipment.
