Coyote Creek trail

The Coyote Creek river trail is a storm drain that starts just south of Whittier. The trail passes through several fairly boring industrial and residential areas. It finally merges with the San Gabriel river trail just south of El Dorado Park.

The North end of the Coyote Creek bike trail starts here near Imperial Highway. The first part of the trail passes an abandoned oil refinery and then transits through an industrial area.

Much of the North end of the trail is in blighted areas such as this one near the La Mirada swap meet.

Dozens of electrical transmission line towers fade into the distance.

The distortion of a telephoto lens makes this rusty chain link fence enclosed bridge look like abstract art.

The Southern end of the Coyote Creek trail meets up with the much more scenic San Gabriel River trail at this bridge.

Difficulty: Easy.
Hazards: Reported daytime bike hijacking by Mexican gang members, glass in the trail, minimal shaded areas (summer).
